Anthropomorphic: This sculpture that I found online instantly reminded me of a hand. The way the separate spikes are arranged looked sort of like fingers to me. The combination of the long, pointed fingers and the way the point in different directions reminded me of the Grinch's hands, and how we would wiggle his fingers when he was plotting. The ice-blue color of the sculpture could add to this cold-hearted feeling of the hand, making it seem slightly evil.
Metamorphic: I chose the Ross School of Business for my metamorphic building. The building gives off a vibe of strength as well as modernity. The bold lines and heavy use of stone and glass give it a futuristic look. No other building on campus looks remotely close to Ross. I think the architects wanted to help Ross make a name for itself by giving it a building that sticks out from the rest. Like the gothic style that many educational buildings take, Ross is still imposing and beautiful, but it's the use of modern material and line structure that makes it obvious the school is trying to push the envelope and be innovative and forward thinking in their educational values.
Evocative: The new, high back blue chairs in the Fishbowl remind me of a throne or a capsule. In the sense of a throne, these chairs have very high backs, as a throne might. This could make the person in the chair feel more important or confident, which could help them as they study. It also could remind someone of a capsule, sort of like a human-sized version of those tubes you deposit checks with at the bank. This could make the person feel more secluded and private, to help prevent them from being distracted by those around them. Either way, it seems that these unique chairs are conducive to good studying.
