Buttress – Structural Support
Capital – The fancy part at the top of a column
Triglyph – 3 vertical “woodlike plank” figures in a frieze
Metope – Square section inbetween triglyphs
Architrave – Square that rests on top of the capital
Column – circular beams that support the structure from floor to ceiling
Gable – Triangular roof
Turret-- a small tower on top of a larger tower or wall
Vault-- an arched form used to provide a space with a ceiling or roof
Arch-- a curved symmetrical structure spanning over an opening
Arcade-- a covered space that has an arch at both entries
Rustication-- a contrasting of textures on a building
Armature-- the platform base of a statue
Asymmetry-- to lack evenness on both sides
Cresting-- ornmaents along the ridge of a roofBalustrade: rail supported by a baluster
Portico-- a roofed area with the roof supported by columns
Courtyard-- unroofed, completely/mostly enclosed area
Pilaster-- a rectangular column, especially one jutting from the wall
Entablature-- base support of columns
Palladian Window-- a window consisting of a central window with an arched top, then two on either side that are rectangular (in this image, the bottom-half of the whole window is Palladian).
Sexfoil-- a flower-shaped ornament with six petals budding from the center
Awning-- a canvas covering
Rosette-- a rose-like ornament
Shingles-- a roof covering that overlaps other identical elements
Fascia-- a cover for the roof rafters
Pediment-- the triangle part of the roof held up by a colonnade
Dormer-- a window projecting vertically from a slanted roof
Latticework--overlapping strips of wood in creating a lattice.
